Criminal Justice Services
Southlight Judicial Services assists defendants who are in the criminal justice system with drug and alcohol offenses and Wake County Probation services. Judicial Services is comprised of six different programs consisting of TASC (Treatment Accountability for Safer Communities), first time offender Drug and Alcohol Education Program, Felony Drug Diversion, DWI services, IEP (Intensive Education Program) and Anger Management Education.
TASC serves the criminal Justice population within Wake County by providing case management and bridging the gap between the criminal justice system and substance abuse treatment. TASC provides assessments and places probationers in appropriate levels of treatment.
Drug and Alcohol Education Program provides first time drug and alcohol offenders an opportunity to keep his/her criminal record clean. Defendants will complete 15 hours of drug and alcohol education and comply with program guidelines. Upon successful completion, defendants will have his/her case dismissed by the District Attorney’s Office and are eligible for expungement.
The Felony Drug Diversion Program provides first time felony drug offenders an opportunity to keep his/her record clean. The defendant will receive a full drug and alcohol assessment, participate and complete required treatment, complete 225 hours of community service, and comply with program guidelines. Upon successful completion, defendants will have his/her case dismissed by the District Attorney’s Office and are eligible for expungement.
DWI services provide pre-post trial assessments and education for defendants charged with driving while impaired offenses. Upon completion of the assessment and education, the client will be provided with documentation for the courts and DMV.
The Intensive Education Program provides education for criminal offenders consisting of short-term (20 hrs.), intermediate (40 hrs.) and long-term (72 hrs.). The IEP offers a variety of class schedules and will provide documentation for the courts upon completion.
The Anger Management Education Program is an accredited program from the Anderson and Anderson Anger Management model. The program consists of twenty hours class time and is led by a certified anger management facilitator. Upon successful completion, appropriate paper work will be provided to the courts.
