Mr. Rankin is the former Chief Financial Officer of SouthLight, Inc. At Rankin McKenzie, he is also an entrepreneurial financial executive with twenty-nine years of multi-industry experience, having served as Chief Executive Officer, Chief Financial Officer, Director of Human Resources, MIS Manager, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Corporate Secretary and Treasurer in emerging growth and international companies.

John C. Crumpler | General Partner, Hatteras BioCapital

Mr. Crumpler and his wife are active members of the White Memorial Presbyterian Church in Raleigh. John co-founded Hatteras in 2000 and is responsible for the firm’s investments in healthcare and life science information technology, and overall fund operations.  Throughout his career John has been active in government and public policy at the state and federal levels.  A recipient of the Lyndhurst Prize, John served on the N.C. Economic Development Board, the state’s Clean Water Management Trust Fund board of directors, and as a trustee of the University of North Carolina School for the Arts.

Dr. Martin Pharr has served the state of North Carolina in several capacities. He began as a mental health program manager for the Department of Correction and subsequently as Chief of Clinical Treatment Services for the Division of Youth Services, Department of Health and Human Services. As a result of statutory changes in 1998, the Division of Youth Services was combined with juvenile court services leading to the eventual creation of the Department of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention.

Dr. Ashwin Patkar | Associate Professor of Psychiatry and Medical Director of Duke Addictions Programs and Duke Center for Addiction Behavior and Change at Duke University Medical Center, Durham, NC

Dr. Ashwin Patkar is a Faculty member for Neuroscience Medicine at Duke Clinical Research Institute (DCRI).  Dr. Patkar has over 20 years of clinical and research experience with particular expertise in psychopharmacology, dual diagnoses, integration of medical care for addiction, and pain and addiction issues.  He is a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatry Association, a Diplomate of the American Board of Addiction Medicine, the President Elect of the Indo-American Psychiatric Association, Treasurer of the Triangle Indian American Physicians Society, Life Fellow of the Indian Psychiatric Society, and member of the American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry, American Academy of Pain Medicine, American Society of Addiction Medicine, Royal College of Psychiatrists and World Psychiatric Association.  Dr. Patkar is married with 2 children and enjoys fishing, yoga, squash, and cricket.
