Increasingly SouthLight’s present “supervised independent living” apartments are serving adults with both a substance abuse and a mental health need, who are also homeless, marginally housed, or transitioning to full independent living from more restrictive residential or custodial programs. SouthLight has developed the staff capacity and expertise to serve this population and to incorporate the specialized resources to adequately address the recovery needs of clients suffering from these co-occurring issues. The apartments are closely supervised and provide transitional housing in a structured, safe and drug-free environment. This program has been successfully serving substance abusers since 1990.
