Meet The Board Members

Jonathan Broyles | Insurance Executive, Olivier VanDyk Insurance

Member since March 2011

Mr. Broyles leads sales and development for Olivier VanDyk Insurance (OVD) throughout North Carolina and surrounding states. OVD represents both commercial and private clients with their property & casualty insurance and risk management programs. Mr. Broyles has been an insurance producer since 2003. Mr. Broyles is active with volunteer work in communities across North Carolina. He has served as President of the Board for the Ronald McDonald House of Eastern NC and Ronald McDonald House at Vidant Medical Center. He also serves in Board positions with The Aldert Root Foundation and White Memorial Presbyterian Church.

Antonia Peck | Partner, Womble Bond Dickinson

Member since August 2017

Toni Peck is a partner with Womble Bond Dickinson. Ms. Peck assists healthcare providers in a variety of regulatory compliance and corporate matters, including Stark law and federal and state Anti-Kickback Statute compliance, HIPAA questions, 340B Drug Pricing Program issues, physician recruitment, medical staff issues, and antitrust concerns. Ms. Peck also counsels healthcare entities on transaction and business matters, including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, reorganizations, management services organizations, and hospital-physician alignment strategies.

Julian Bossong | CEO of South Atlantic Packaging

Julian Bossong is the CEO of South Atlantic Packaging. Prior to joining South Atlantic and the SouthLight Board, Julian engaged in an intense six month consulting project with SouthLight, where he focused on strategy development and operational refinement. Julian’s previous experience includes two stints as COO of successful Raleigh companies, and his expertise is in team leadership, sales and marketing, operations, and financial management. Julian earned an MBA from the Kenan-Flagler Business School and a BA in Economics from Davidson College.

John Lane | Commercial Banker at BB&T

John Lane is a native of High Point, and graduate of NC State. He and his wife, Kristine, live in Raleigh. In his current role with BB&T, John works with small to medium-sized businesses throughout the Triangle and across a broad mix of industries. In terms of community involvement, John also serves on the board with the SPCA of Wake County, as a volunteer coach with the Miracle League of the Triangle, and as a volunteer team lead with the YMCA of the Triangle’s annual We Build People campaign.

Deborah Hylton | President, Hylton ADR Services

Member since August 2017

Deborah is a seasoned leader with extensive experience guiding companies through critical transitions. She has a private dispute resolution practice in arbitration and mediation focused on commercial disputes. Deborah currently serves on the board of North Carolina Services for Dentists, a subsidiary of the North Carolina Dental Society.  She previously served as President & CEO of an early stage digital behavioral health company. Deborah is a former board chair of a privately-owned $1 B revenue consumer products company and a former Restructuring Officer. She began her professional career at a major regional law firm where she was on the board of directors and an expert in M&A and capital transactions. She and her husband enjoy hiking, cycling, cooking, and traveling.  

John C. Crumpler | General Partner, Hatteras BioCapital

Member since August 1999

Mr. Crumpler is an active member of the White Memorial Presbyterian Church in Raleigh. John co-founded Hatteras BioCapital in 2000 and is responsible for the firm’s investments in healthcare and life science information technology, along with overall fund operations. Throughout his career, he has been active in government and public policy at the state and federal levels. A recipient of the Lyndhurst Prize, John served on the N.C. Economic Development Board and on the state’s Clean Water Management Trust Fund board of directors, and he was a trustee of the University of North Carolina School for the Arts.

Dr. Ashwin A. Patkar | Professor of Psychiatry and Family Medicine, Medical Director, Duke Addictions Programs

Member since August 2013

Ashwin A Patkar, MD, DFASAM is an internationally known expert in Addictions with over 25 years of clinical, scientific and educational experience in medical aspects of addiction. Dr. Patkar has served on State and Federal Committees, Task Forces and Expert Panels to address Substance Use Issues and serves as a mentor for Provider Clinical Support System for Medication Assisted Treatments. He is certified in Psychiatry, Addiction Psychiatry, Addiction Medicine and Pain Medicine. He is the recipient of the Frederick Glaser Award for his contributions to the field of Addictions in North Carolina. Dr. Patkar has published over 250 peer-reviewed scientific articles, 6 book chapters and has given over 400 presentations and invited lectures at national and international meetings. He is a Distinguished Fellow of the American Society of Addiction Medicine, Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatry Association, and President of North Carolina Chapter of American Society of Addiction Medicine (2019). Dr. Patkar is married with 2 children and enjoys fishing, yoga, squash, and cricket.

 

John Stump | President/CEO of Family Business Institute

John Stump is an advisor to multi-generational family businesses, assisting them with strategy and succession planning. John Stump is the former CEO and COO of Monitech and LMG Holdings, respectively. These organizations are the US leaders in manufacturing and servicing of breath alcohol interlocks--devices used to prevent impaired driving. John has over 20 years of experience in various leadership positions growing technology-based businesses. He also has extensive volunteer experience including serving as board chair for organizations ranging from BandTogether to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Wake, Durham and Orange County. John also chairs the Triangle Angel Partnership Funds I and II and is an active investor and advisor for several RTP technology companies.

Mary-Sara Camerino | Chief Operating Officer; GrowPath, LLC

Mary-Sara Camerino has 25 years as a proven leader in corporate operations and full life-cycle product management and strategy. As the COO of a legal technology start up, she oversees all day-to-day company activities including development, marketing, sales, finance and HR. She has broad industry experience rooted in the foundation of management consulting. She also has healthcare, cybersecurity, legal tech and consumer software industries. She has worked for Fortune 50 companies, early stage start-ups, civilian government agencies and the Department of Defense. From this diversity of experience, she brings a depth of understanding of organizational process and functions. She led the development of products and concepts resulting in the filing of six patents, for which she is listed as co-inventor. Ms. Camerino holds an MS from Johns Hopkins University. You are mostly likely find her near a body of water with her 2 girls Evan (10) and Jane (8) and her husband James Hickman.

Anuradha Rao-Patel, M.D. | Lead Medical Director-Government Programs –BCBS

Dr. Rao-Patel oversees the Medical Directors responsible for the utilization and care management activities for Medicare Advantage, Federal Employee Program (FEP), and the NC State Health Plan lines of business at BCBS/NC. In addition to this role, Dr. Rao-Patel is leading an internal opioid work group where she is working collaboratively with other key stakeholders at both state and national levels to identify solutions and best practices on the treatment of substance use disorder while focusing on effective care coordination for member focused care delivery. Dr. Rao-Patel attended medical school at Louisiana State University in New Orleans and completed her internship in Internal Medicine at Earl K. Long Hospital in Baton Rouge. She then completed her residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. Prior to joining Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina, she was in private practice providing services for chronic pain management and addiction management.

Ronald Smith, Pharm.D. | Chief Executive Officer of Smith Consulting Group

Dr. Smith is a healthcare and pharmaceutical industry expert, with over twenty years of experience in operations, product development, mergers and acquisitions.

Currently, Ron provides consulting and advisory services to a broad spectrum of healthcare clients. Having served in a number of senior executive roles in the health insurance, specialty pharmaceutical and pharmacy benefit management industries, Smith is able to draw upon his vast and deep expertise in leading companies, transforming business cultures and driving operating and financial performance. Prior to CCNC, Ron served as the COO of Biologics, a national integrated oncology services company. Dr. Smith received his MBA, and a doctorate of pharmacy (cum laude) from Campbell University. After receiving his doctorate in pharmacy, he completed a post-doctoral fellowship in health care administration at Blue Cross and Blue Shield.
