SouthLight at Barrett Drive is an office-based mental health and substance use disorder clinic in the North Hills area. We provide medication management for psychiatric disorders and medication-assisted treatment for addiction and provide on-site counseling with licensed professionals.

What we do

At our Barrett Drive office, we strive to put the needs of the individual first while making medically and clinically appropriate recommendations to achieve success. We understand the courage it takes to seek treatment, and we aim to be with our clients every step of the way. Our clients and our team together set goals and develop treatment plans based on each individual’s particular problems and needs. Gaining control of your life through individual therapy and/or medication management can be empowering and rewarding.

Our Team

Michael S. Lancaster

Chief Medical Officer

Michael S. Lancaster, M.D. is a Board-Certified Adult, Child, and Adolescent Psychiatrist and serves as the Chief Medical Officer for SouthLight. He received his bachelor’s degree from Duke University in 1971 and his medical degree from Tulane University School of Medicine in 1975.  After a pediatric internship at Ochsner Hospital in New Orleans, he completed a residency in General Psychiatry and a fellowship in Child and Adult Psychiatry at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, North Carolina.  Dr. Lancaster has over 36 years of diverse medical experience which includes since 1981 maintaining an inpatient and outpatient private practice, 12 years as Regional Medical Director for a national managed care company, 6 years as Chief of Clinical Policy for the Department of MH/DD/SAS/ for the state of North Carolina, and 5 years as Medical Director for Behavior Health Integration at Community Care of North Carolina. 

 

Dr. Lancaster is a distinguished fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, and member of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, North Carolina Psychiatric Association, and the North Carolina Association of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.  Dr. Lancaster is married, has two children and one grandchild, and enjoys reading, fishing, traveling, and cheering his teams (Blue Devils, Durham Bulls, and Carolina Hurricanes) on to victory.

Camille Hudimac

Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

Camille Hudimac is a Family Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. She received her Master’s degree in nursing from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She has spent her career working with children and adults with mental health and substance use diagnoses. She has worked in community mental health and the outpatient setting providing psychiatric evaluations and medication management. Camille has an expertise and really enjoys treating children and adolescents with a variety of mental health disorders. She also has years of experience in substance abuse which includes opioid use and alcohol use disorders. She also has knowledge and practice in the management of pregnant women taking buprenorphine. Camille strives to obtain optimal mental health through support and collaboration with the patient. She provides a warm approach and encourages autonomy, growth, and healing. Camille is at this location on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Melony Sanders

Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

Melony Sanders is a North Carolina native. She earned her undergraduate nursing degree at East Carolina University and her graduate degree from The University of South Alabama. She enjoys working with adults with psychiatric and substance use disorders. She sees patients at both the Garner Road and Barrett Drive locations. When she's not at work, Melony enjoys spending time with her family and pets, listening to music, and traveling. 

Brianna Pharr

DBT/BHO Counselor

Brianna Pharr is a Licensed Professional Counselor, joining the Barrett Drive team with years of experience in the mental health field.  She graduated from North Carolina State University with a BA in Applied Psychology and a minor in Forensic Sciences. Following this, her interests led her to obtain an MA and Ed.S in Counseling from Seton Hall University, based in New Jersey.  


Brianna has been privileged to work across many areas within mental wellness, including substance use disorders, severe and persistent mental illness, eating disorders and intellectual/developmental disabilities. Although she utilizes a variety of modalities, she has worked to expand her knowledge of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy; leading her to become trained through the Linehan Institute to deliver the service in a competent manner.  


A self-described nerd, Brianna enjoys learning new ways to be the most effective therapist. She is a human rights supporter and an ally who offers culturally competent care to all. 

Todd Carver

DBT Counselor

Tod Carver, MSW, is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate as well as a Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist Associate, practicing in Raleigh, NC.  Tod graduated from North Carolina State University, with both graduate and undergraduate degrees in Social Work.  While working towards his graduate degree Tod was chosen as a HRSA Behavioral Health scholar and received additional in-depth training on working with persons with or at risk of behavioral health issues.  

 
Tod is continuously seeking to gain new skills and broaden his education.  He is trained for and currently practices Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), he is also trained and uses the Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) an Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) modalities in his therapeutic sessions.  He is currently looking to add EMDR therapy education to his toolbox.  Rather than adopting one methodology for all individuals and issues, Tod draws from a variety of methods to create a tailored approach for each individual and situation.


Tod believes that change happens when people are given the guidance they need to draw on their own strengths and realize their potential to live fulfilling happy lives. He provides an environment of compassion and support to help individuals overcome obstacles to move forward and thrive. Tod says of himself, “I am warm, open, encouraging, and direct. I consider myself an active therapist, combining experience, education, creativity, and sense of humor with a down-to-earth, realistic approach to counseling”. 

Jorge Caraballo

DBT Counselor

Jorge Caraballo is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate as well as a Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist Associate. A North Carolina native, Jorge received a BA in Psychology at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and then his MS in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. His therapeutic approach involves holistic care, addressing physical, mental, and spiritual needs. Jorge is well versed in working with a variety of mental health, interpersonal, and substance use concerns. Primarily using Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Jorge is familiar with other traditional modalities. Jorge believes change is possible and will accompany you on your journey to creating a life worth living and one that you thrive in.

Katie

Office Manager

Katie has spent the past several years working in the psychiatry field. She graduated from UNC-Wilmington with a B.A. in Psychology, where she was able to gain firsthand experience during her internship at Wilmington Treatment Center and while working with patients in the emergency department at NHRMC. She moved back to Raleigh where she worked at N.C. Neuropsychiatry as a psychiatric technician and, more recently, at Cary Psychiatry as an office administrator. Katie is very passionate about helping those in need and working with the psychiatric and substance use population. Her top priority is making sure every client has a positive experience at our clinic and is very eager to help grow our practice!
