Mike Lancaster, MD
Michael S. Lancaster, M.D. is a Board-Certified Adult, Child, and Adolescent Psychiatrist. He received his bachelor’s degree from Duke University in 1971 and his medical degree from Tulane University School of Medicine in 1975. After a pediatric internship at Ochsner Hospital in New Orleans, he completed a residency in General Psychiatry and a fellowship in Child and Adult Psychiatry at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Dr. Lancaster has over 36 years of diverse medical experience which includes since 1981 maintaining an inpatient and outpatient private practice, 12 years as Regional Medical Director for a national managed care company, 6 years as Chief of Clinical Policy for the Department of MH/DD/SAS/ for the state of North Carolina, and 5 years as Medical Director for Behavior Health Integration at Community Care of North Carolina.
Currently, he is the interim Chief Medical Officer at SouthLight Healthcare. He is a distinguished fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, and member of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, North Carolina Psychiatric Association, and the North Carolina Association of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Dr. Lancaster is married, has two children and one grandchild, and enjoys reading, fishing, traveling, and cheering his teams (Blue Devils, Durham Bulls, and Carolina Hurricanes) on to victory.
